What To Do During The Holidays

The holiday season is one of the most exciting times of the year. Although it might be one of the most fun times of year it is one of the shortest times as well. Everyone has their own list of traditions that they want to do during the holidays every year. I know that my family has traditions such as putting up the tree, watching christmas movies and making cookies. The list goes on and on. No matter how busy we are we should use this month to take part in all of these things as a form of celebration for the past year and to spend much needed time with friends and family. I have come up with a list of activities for you to do during this holiday season weather it be through out the month or during Christmas break. Hope you all enjoy! Happy Holidays!

Decorate your house

I believe that one of the most fun parts about the holidays is decorating my house with my family. Take a day to put up the tree, the garland, the lights, everything! Decorating your house is a kickstart to the Christmas season.

Build a Gingerbread House

Some people go all out with there ginger bread houses weather it be with there design or through there baking. I personally like to take the easy approach and buy a Gingerbread House making kit and add my own personal touch through my decorating. Have fun with it no matter your artistic abilities.

Do a DIY

During this time of year I find that my desire to be creative grows. I am constantly searching on pintrest for different DIY’s to do. Whether it be DIY’s for decorations, wrapping presents or baking. You can even make DIY presents for your friends and family to add a sentimental aspect to each gift.

Watch Christmas movies and listen to Christmas music

This one is a given but sometimes people forget to take the time to do the simple things such watching movies and listening to Christmas music. Spend your nights watching your favourite movies with you friends and family. Yo add even more festive cheer you can play Christmas music throughout your day.

Bake Christmas Cookies

One of the best parts about Christmas is all of the food. Am I right everyone? I like to bake a new cookie recipe every weekend as a way to feel festive and to try something new. Baking cookies or any desert allows me to have the opportunity to them bring it to all of the Christmas get togethers and parties for my friends and family to enjoy.

Cinnamon Sugar Cookies

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Jam Filled Sugar Cookies

Go to a Christmas Market

If you are not yet in the Christmas spirit after doing all of these things I suggest going to a Christmas market near you. When you go to these markets you will feel like you have been transported into the North Pole. They have carolling, lights, and lots and lots of food!

Go skating

One of the best parts of the winter time is all of the winter sports. During the Christmas time outdoor skating rinks are a beautiful sight filled with magical lights all around. Skating is a great activity to do with friends and family or for a date night. This activity is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Have an ugly Christmas sweater party

Invite all of your friends over to your house to have an ugly sweater making contest/party. Go to the dollar store and get all of the possible items that you can decorate you sweaters with. Serve finger food, drinks and have a festive, fun and chilled Christmas night.

Do Secret Santa with friends

For me personally it seems like every year the list of people that I have to get gifts for grows. A great way to make the holidays a little for stress free and fun is to do Secret Santa whether it be with your friends and family. There is something so fun in the mystery of not knowing who your Secret Santa is and secretly buying for others.
