Mornings are the time of day that people either love or hate. I am one of those people that hates mornings especially when it comes part where I have to actually get out of bed and leave my nice warm blankets. Although summer is a time where me and a lot of other students are able to sleep in till their hearts content it is also a time where we tend to spend all day in bed and miss out on all of the great things we could of been doing throughout the day. I have come up with some tips that have really helped me enjoy mornings and start my day off right. I hope they help you all out too!
1. Set an Alarm
Setting an alarm is very helpful trick. It works to ensure that you are not sleeping your whole day away and prevents you from completly messing up your sleep schedule. Alarms are typically enemies when it comes to mornings but I have a couple tips to make your alarm a little less painful.
- Set it to a song that you enjoy listening to and gets you pumped up
- Put your alarm across the room to force you to get up to turn it off
- Write a nice message to yourself such as “Your going to have a great day today!”
2. Write in a journal
Instead of going on your phone and checking social media as soon as you get up open up a journal and write how you are feeling that morning, any dreams you remember and your to-do list for the day. This will allow you to focus on yourself and what you day beholds rather then being sucked into the never ending stream of social media.
3. Make your bed
I don’t know about you but I could have the most productive day in the world but if my bed is not made I feel like I have not accomplished anything. To kick start your morning make your bed right away therefore everything is tidy and in order so you can have a nice morning and rest of the day.
4. Have a nice breakfast
Having a breakfast that your are excited about eating and enjoy will act as a motivator for you to get out of bed in the morning. My favourite breakfast is oatmeal with a banana on the side. Knowing that I get to eat a yummy breakfast makes me want to hurry downstairs and make it.
5. Sit outside to eat
If it is a nice day sit outside and eat your breakfast. You can listen to the sounds of nature and get you vitamin D for the day. Bring out a book or magazine to read to save yourself from getting sucked into your phone which will then lead you not to want to continue with the rest of your day. 6. Play a calming playlist
During all of those morning activities I suggest playing a nice calming playlist in the background. You can create or use an existing playlist on Spotify or on apple music. This will allow you to stay in the moment before you start worrying about everything that you need to get done that day.
