As you can probably tell from the title of this post I have recently picked up the Saint Laurent Toy Lou Lou crossbody bag. As a person who spends countless hours researching a product before buying it, I wanted to review this product myself for those who are looking to purchase this bag as well.
I have passed by this bag many times while walking through Nordstrom or the Saint Laurent store but never made the purchase until a couple months ago. I absolutely loved the look of the bag and thought that it worked perfectly with my style. It is a very simple bag however it has a lot of distinct details that add an element of interest. By this, I mean that the shape of the bag is very trendy but also timeless and the YSL logo is iconic. When it came to buying my first designer bag I knew that I wanted to get something that would withstand the test of time while at the same time fit with my style and life.
The YSL Toy Lou Lou comes in many colours (grey, light grey, brown, black, beige, red, light pink, navy, forest green, blush) and has hardware options of silver, gold and matte black. This bag has the signature YSL chevron pattern on the back and front of the bag as well. There are also colour options with contrast stitching which adds a more trendy look to the bag. The leather is calfskin so it is super soft and the interior is in a black suede material. It retails for $1689 on the Saint Laurent website however you could also consider buying the bag on the preloved market. The strap on this bag is also adjustable depending on where you like to wear it which is a great feature that you don’t see a lot in mini bags. It has three compartments; two bigger sections, one little pouch in the middle, a place to put cards if you don’t want to carry a wallet and a zipper compartment at the back.

My experience with this bag has been a 10/10. I was worried about this bag being too dressy for my day to day life but I have been able to pair this bag with every outfit easily. What I love most is that it elevates every outfit by adding a hint of luxury without being over the top. I could have on black jeans and a white t-shirt which is quite boring but once I put the bag on it turns into an amazing outfit. This bag can be dressed up for a night out or dressed down for a day running errands. It also holds all of my essentials that I need day to day without me having to stuff it. Another plus to this bag is that the calfskin leather makes it really easy to buff out if any marks appear making it very wearable. I am also very happy that I waited for the black and gold to arrive because I am definitely more of a gold hardware fan.
To store my bag when not in use I put it on top of its box with the dust bag covering it in order to let the leather breathe but still have the bag protected from dust and marks.
WHAT’S IN MY BAG
This bag has three compartments which makes it really organized to put things in. In the first pocket, I keep my iPhone 7 plus (yes it does fit an iPhone Plus- BONUS) and my cardholder. In the middle pocket, I usually keep cash if I have any. In the back pocket, I keep a sanitizer, my lipgloss for the day and a lip balm. I can also squeeze in my sunglasses in that compartment as well if need be.
