ITEMS THAT YOU NEED IN YOUR WARDROBE

Hello everyone,

The foundation of a good wardrobe is centred around key pieces such as a white collared shirt or a black pencil skirt. These are clothing items that you can easily pair with everything and build the rest of your outfit with. On mornings that you just cannot decide what to wear or if you have trouble putting outfits together, having staple items such as a white t-shirt will act as an easy starting point. I do think that it is worth investing more money into these pieces because they are items that you will wear a lot and you will really be able to see the difference in quality. In this post, I will talk to you all about the pieces I feel are essentials in your wardrobe as well as my favourites.

Never have that “I hate everything, I have nothing to wear” moment again.

Basic T-Shirt

This is one item that I cannot live without. It is the perfect item to wear when you need a quick and easy outfit but it is also the perfect item to layer other pieces with. I often will wear black jeans with the white t-shirt tucked in with a cute belt and some boots. The starting point of such a simple item as a white shirt enables me to get creative with my look when it comes to my accessories. I would advise investing in nice t-shirts instead of going to places like forever 21 because of the way they sit and feel on your body. I usually get my t-shirts from the Gap because although they are a bit more expensive they wash well and last me longer than cheaper alternatives.

Dark Blue Denim Jeans

There are many colours of denim out there but if you only could get one I would say to get a pair of dark blue denim. The reason being is because they can be worn casually or dressed up. I would also get them without any rips to keep a classy look for any occasion. Light wash denim can sometimes be too casual and black coloured denim may be too dressy for some occasions. Dark blue denim is the perfect colour that will be able to take you from day to night easily.

White Collared Shirt

A white collared shirt is something that everyone should have in their closet because it is such a versatile piece. It can be worn to the office, for a night out, to run errands- the possibilities are endless. You can also wear it many different ways, you can simply button it, you can tie is in the front, or even wear it off the shoulder. I love wearing collared shirts tucked into a pair of jeans and unbuttoned at the top with a nice bralette underneath. It is such a chic and easy look.

Knit Sweater

There are countless styles of knit sweaters out there but I would say to get the most simple knit that you can find for many reasons. If you do not want to spend a lot of money on your knits getting the most basic style will make it look more expensive. It also allows for you to be able to style the sweater multiple ways; over a collared shirt, with leggings etc. The best colours to get would be tan, black and grey because they are the most neutral and easy to style colours. I would also say to get different lengths and fits so that you are able to wear them with both leggings, jeans and skirts.

Classic Leather Belt

A good leather belt is an item that can take your outfit to the next level. Like I said before my go-to outfit is a white t-shirt, black jeans and a belt. With a basic outfit like a white shirt and jeans, the belt adds a piece of detail that makes it look like you put a lot of effort into getting ready.  Get the belt in the colour leather and hardware that you tend to wear the most, therefore, you can match it to your shoes and handbags.

Little Black Dress

The LBD is an absolute staple. Finding the LBD that makes you feel amazing will be your go-to for so many occasions. You can style a little black dress down with some sneakers and a denim jacket or dress it up with some heels and a clutch. The possibilities of what you can do with a little black dress are endless.

Trench Coat

A trench coat is a great staple that will take you through many seasons. It can be worn in the spring with a cute top underneath or layered in the fall or winter with a knit sweater and scarf. This is also a great item because it can be worn for many occasions and looks so classic but also stylish at the same time. A trench coat is such a timeless piece that can be worn for so many years therefore if there is any piece that you are going to invest in this is it.

Black and Nude Heels

Every girl needs a good pair of heels, whether it be for a job interview or for a party. I think that is it best to get nude and black because they are both neutral colours that will work with any outfit that you put together. If you choose to get a coloured heel then it may be harder when it comes to pairing it with many different outfits. Nude works best in the spring and summer with lighter colours and black works best in the fall and winter with darker colours.

White Sneakers

If you are going to get a colour sneaker white is your best bet. I would also say to get a simple style so that they are easy to wear. The athleisure trend is so in right now, therefore, sneakers are a great item to wear to both be on trend and be comfortable. You can wear sneakers with dresses, skirts and jeans. They can add a touch of sportiness to a very girly outfit or enhance an already sporty look.
