Hello everyone!
As promised today’s post is going to be all about my chemical peel experience. For as long as I can remember I have struggled with acne prone skin and acne scarring. I have tried almost everything I can think of to clear my skin, even going to a dermatologist for advice, yet nothing ever worked. If you are someone who struggles when it comes to clear skin you can agree that it brings down your confidence and is just frustrating overall. After months of being in a rut when it came to my skin and loosing confidence because of it I decided to embark on a skin clearing journey. My goals for my skin are to make it smoother, clearer and brighter. Lucky for me my best friend Maddy is Medical Esthetician with her own spa, the Bella Bar Spa. As soon as she announced she was going to start doing chemical peels I said SIGN ME UP.
She recommended I do the Dermalogical Powerclear Peel which has so many amazing benefits such as reducing and eliminating:
- Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Congestion
- Blackheads
- Excess oil flow
- Breakouts
After hearing all of this information I knew that this was just what my skin needed to reset. Before starting Maddy screened my face with the Dermalogica face mapping tool. I thought it was so cool to actually map out the problem areas of my skin at the start my journey and be able to track my progress throughout.

THE PROCESS
DURING

From what I heard about chemical peels in the past I was worried it was going to burn like crazy but she assured me that this one is a new formulation that would only tingle and she was right. She started by cleaning my face and then proceeded to apply 2 layers of the chemical peel. It was practically painless and nothing compared to now I thought it was going to feel. I just got to lie there while the peel did it’s magic on my skin. To cool down the skin afterwards she did a mask and ice rolling which was so relaxing and left my skin feeling bright. The immediate results that I noticed was a lot of my redness had gone down, as well as my most inflamed acne spots. My skin was bright and hydrated leaving me very excited to see what positive changes would occur with my skin over the next week.
SOME GENERAL THINGS TO KNOW POST TREATMENT:
- You are not allowed to exercise for 24 hours, wax anything on my face for 72 hours or exfoliate for 5-6 days post treatment
- You are not allowed peel or pick at your skin, pop ay pimples or touch your face post treatment (as much as it is tempting)
- Apply sunscreen everyday
- Change your pillowcase
- Avoid showering for 24 hours (so make sure you do that before)
DAY 1

- Redness continued to decrease
- My pores became more defined, indicating they were starting to purge all of the congestion.
- Skin was bright
- No signs of peeling or flaking
DAY 2
- Skin started to peel, especially in the drier areas of my skin
- Skin was super glowy and hydrated
- Very little redness, I had a very even complexion
DAY 3
- More peeling
- Feel like the texture of my skin is softer and smoother
DAY 4

- Continued peeling, but nothing too drastic and my skin was a little drier overall
- More pimples and blackheads emerged, making it so tempting to pop them
- This is the day that I really got the urge to want to exfoliate since my skin was rougher in texture from all of my acne purging and skin peeling
- The redness in my skin was practically GONE
- Dark sports reduced
DAY 5
- I could FINALLY exfoliate
- My skin felt so smooth and even after exfoliating
- Acne was still purging and bringing things to the surface
- Brighter skin
- Dark spots reduced
- Even skin tone
DAY 6 & 7
- Not too many changes happened on day 6 and 7 in comparison to day 5
Overall I was very happy with my chemical peel experience. It was practically painless and the results were just what my skin needed to reset. I do think I need a couple more treatments in order to really get rid of the congestion and dark spots on my skin but as I said this is going to be a journey. My skin is now brighter, more even and it is finally purging all of the congestion that was blocking my pores. If your dealing with the same issues as me having a chemical peel may be the way to go. It helped my skin so much and allowed me to make progress with my skin that I’ve never been able to achieve before.
