HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OUT OF HALLOWEEN THIS YEAR

Hello everyone!

As we all know Halloween is a little different this year as we aren’t able to participate in the usual traditions that we know and love. Although this depends on where you live, trick or treating may not be allowed, and/or parties may be cancelled or limited. As we get closer and closer to the day I can’t help but feel a little sad that normal celebrations are not going to occur. I decided to come up with a list of things that you can do to make the most out of Halloween this year that are both safe and fun. I hope you enjoy and have a Happy Halloween!

***I do want to disclaim that you should always base this on your community guidelines as to what is safe and unsafe during this time.***

BAKING COMPETITION

One of the first ideas I had was to hold a Halloween baking competition with friends or family. Similar to shows that are on the Food Network pick an item to bake such as cookies or cupcakes. Get a bunch of items to decorate the cookies or cupcakes with such as frosting, sprinkles, fondant etc. and spend the night getting creative. The person with the best decorated cupcakes or cookies is the winner! If you are of legal age you can add some wine to this activity as well to make it even more interesting.

WATCH HALLOWEEN MOVIES AND MAKE A SPREAD OF YUMMY SNACKS

Have a Halloween movie night watching all of your favourite movies. You can keep it to the classics or make it spooky and watch some horror films. No movie night is complete without some yummy food so put together some Halloween themed snacks and desserts to munch on. I have linked some of my favourites below. This idea is perfect if you are looking to have a relaxing Halloween night.

BOOZE AND PUMPKIN CARVING

I included this idea on here as an elevated version of regular pumpkin carving for adults. As it does involve sharp objects I do recommend drinking with caution. This would be such a fun activity to do with a group of friends to get creative, while sipping on your favourite cocktails and nibbling at some snacks. Its like the Halloween version of Wine and Paint night. Afterwards you can marvel at your wonderful pumpkin carving creations.

PUMPKINS AFTER DARK

If you live in the Toronto Area there is an event called ‘Pumpkins After Dark’ where you can drive through and look at over 150 pumpkin sculptures. This is a festive activity that can be done from the comfort of your own car. If you do not live in the Toronto area I know there are many places that host drive through events such as these. Look for one in your area!

SCAVENGER HUNT

This is the perfect idea for kiddos. As trick of treating is not allowed to happen this year why not take a page out of the book of Easter and have a Halloween scavenger hunt instead. Fill little bags with candy and other goodies. Hide them all around your house and in your backyard for your kids to go find. Although it’s not entirely the same they will still be able to have a fun activity to do and have some yummy candy!

MYSTERY NIGHT

My last idea is to host a murder mystery night. Although it may seem quiet complicated, there are lots of templates available online and ways to get super creative with it. You can decorate the inside of your house, get a small group of people together and spend a spooky night solving a murder mystery. I think this is such a unique and fun idea that I am sure your guests have not done before and would love. Everyone can dress up and make the most out of Halloween night.
