HAIR CARE TIPS: HOW I GREW MY HAIR

Hello everyone!

A couple weeks ago I asked all of you on my instagram which is @alittletouchofgold ,if you would like to give it a follow and see more content from me, what you guys wanted to see on my blog in the coming month. I got so many great responses and ideas that I will be getting up for you all in the coming weeks. The first request that I got was to do a post with all of my hair care tips. As I am currently growing out my hair and have been focusing on keeping it really healthy I thought this post could not come at a better time. If you are a new follower of mine, I cut my hair really short in June of last year. It was the shortest it has ever been and I loved it so much. With covid, and lockdown happening getting a frequent haircut to keep it up was just not gonna happen, in addition I missed my signature long hair that I had years prior. From then on I just let it grow and focused on the health of my hair. In the past 6 months it has grown a substainal amount and I am so happy with the results. I feel that the success of my hair growth can all be attributed to tips and tricks I have been implementing, as well as some outstanding products.

HAIR MASK

A hair mask is one of the best things that I added into my routine. My hair tends to get really dry at the ends especially if I do not make a conscious effort to keep it nourished and hydrated. I have been using the Keils Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Reparative Hair Mask once a week for the past 6 months. This has allowed me to keep my hair healthy as it grows out without frequent trips to the salon.

LESS HEAT

One of the biggest tips people mention to help grow out your hair and keep it healthy is to use less heat. I do try my best to leave my hair natural as much as possible, especially when I am staying at home. However, I can by no means cut out heat styling all together. Having sleek and styled hair makes me feel way more put together and in times like these I will take that any way I can. To lower the amount of heat I am using on my hair I have invested in really good heat tools, to ensure less damage on my hair. I find that due to the fact these heat tools are so high quality I only have to use them on my hair once and rarely need to touch up or restyle the next day. Investing in high quality hot tools has allowed me to still style my hair while at the same time put less damage on it. Here are some of the hot tools I use:

BRUSH IT OUT

For some reason I used to hate brushing out my hair as it would always go frizzy afterwards. I now realize that it is so important in maintaining the health of my hair. Brushing it keeps my hair looking fresh and sleek throughout the day. Another tip, in regards to brushing your hair is to brush if before you wash your hair. I find it makes it way easier to wash and makes brushing it out after way easier. More brushing, means less tangles and therefore less breakage.

PART IT DIFFERENT WAYS

When googling ways to grow out my hair one of the tips that was listed was to part your hair in different ways. At first I didn’t believe it to be true. How could parting your hair different ways contribute to hair growth? I still don’t understand the science behind it but I started to do it and considering how much my hair has grown it must have contributed to something. I will wear it in my normal part one day, and in a pony tail, another. I will also try to part it on the opposite side of my natural part on days I know I am just going to sit at home

GO LONGER BETWEEN WASHES

I have really trained my hair to go longer between washes. I can usually go 3 days without washing my hair before I NEED to. Since being in lockdown, and not exposed to the outside world I have been trying to go even longer. Now is the perfect time to stretch the time between your washes. This allows more of your natural oils to absorb into your hair and allow it to be healthy. My hair is so much shiner, moisturized, and has definitely grown faster.
