Hello everyone, long time no see. I guess a month is not really that long but for someone who usually posts 2 blogs a week this has been quite a hiatus for me. Ultimately, getting back to real life after months in lockdown was not an easy adjustment. In this post I am going to give you a little life update of what has been going on the past month. Hope you enjoy!
Going From No Jobs to 3
One of the biggest changes in my life over the past couple months has been going from no job to three jobs😅. I went from being unemployed to doing freelance content creation, working as a sales associate at Oak+Fort all while advancing ALTG by working with brands and styling clients. As you can imagine juggling everything has been quite a challenge, one that I was not prepared for. Despite all the stress and lack of sleep I am absolutely loving what I am doing. I am so fulfilled and feel like I am on the right path to the future career I want to have for myself. It’s a grind but it sure is worth it. Working at Oak + Fort has been so amazing so far. The team that I work with is so fun and supportive. Being able to meet new people and style clients on the daily is a dream. Being given the opportunity to do freelance work for a couple companies has also been so great. I am gaining experience in the feild that I could only dream of at such a young age. Plus I get to be creative and test my knowledge in everything I do.
ALTG
I wanted to make A Little Touch of Gold a whole update in itself because it’s my baby. Over the past few months I have felt quite lost with what to do with my little company. Whether it be my blog, my Instagram or Styled by ALTG It is quite discouraging at times when you don’t feel like your accomplishing all that you should. I was in a rut and felt like I lost my motivation for it. I didn’t know what content I wanted to create that was organic to me and felt uninspired. After realizing how hard on myself I was being, and coming to terms with the fact that it doesn’t matter the number of followers or views that I have, but rather the community I am forming I changed my outlook. Once I found that mindset again I have been so inspired with the content I am creating and the direction I want to take it. Ultimately, it is my small business and the only person that is going to make it happen is me. There are so many exciting things to come and I am so lucky to be working with brands I could only dream of, growing my amazing community and sharing my love for fashion.

Trying to Make the Most of Summer
I don’t know about anyone else but I feel this summer has gone by quicker than any one before. In fact I feel like this whole year has. Can you believe we only have 4 more months left of 2021?!? I am still writing the date wrong and processing 2020 for goodness sake. Anyways, as we are in the last month of summer before school begins I am trying to slow down as much as I can and make the most of it. This entails lots of day trips with friends, girls days with my mom and evenings with my boyfriend. There is nothing better then exploring your own area. I went to downtown Guelph with my mom for a fabulous afternoon. More about that in an upcoming blog post. I also went to Terre Bleu Lavender Farm with one of my best friends which was such a great day. You can watch my Reel about it HERE.
New Outlook on Fashion
Something that I am super excited about is all the fall fashion coming up. I am really taking a different approach to forming my wardrobe this season. Usually I panic buy a bunch of items thinking they are all going to sell out for the season. That leaves me with a bunch of impulse purchases that I like but most of the time do not LOVE a couple weeks later. This doesn’t happen for evey season, mostly fall for reasons I don’t understand. Maybe it’s because fall is my favourite season for fashion and I do not want to miss out on anything. In an effort to change this past mindset, this season I have placed myself on a 3 day waiting period. When I see an item that I like I need to wait 3 days before purchasing it, no matter how in demand it is. If I still love it after 3 days and it is still there waiting for me it is meant to me. I have been doing this a lot lately and I find it is making such a difference in the way my wardrobe is being formed. I am keeping “special” and truly unique pieces rather then “nice in the moment” pieces. It also ensures that I do not have too many overlapping items as the three day period allows me to think of what I have and all the ways I can wear an item. For instance I wanted to get a knit sweater from Aritzia that essentially looked like a jacket. Old Laura would of pressed “process order” in a second. New and responsible Laura now adds to cart and let’s it sit there out of sight for a few days. In doing so I realized how similar it is to my Ganna jacket from Aritzia and having both would just be silly. This system is not only saving my wallet but allowing me to have a more wide range and special wardrobe for this fall. Highly recommend.
Well that is basically all you guys missed this past month. There are so many blog posts and content in the works so be sure to subscribe to my blog and follow me on instagram HERE
