Hello everyone!
A couple weeks ago my mom and I decided to have a girls day and explore a new area. I love going on day trips in the summer, trying new things and visiting new spots. After much deliberation on where we were going to head to for the day we landed on downtown Guelph. We both had never been and I had been saving a list of restaurants, cafes and shops that I wanted to check out.

Restaurant: La Reina
As soon as we got there we were ready to have lunch and since we went on a Thursday there wasn’t a wait for any restaurants. This was such a great surprise as we are so used to having to make reservations or be put on a waitlist. We walked around the downtown core to the various restaurants options. I love how there was so much to choose from in such a short walking disntace from eachother. It made selecting a restaurant so easy. We were craving a fresh margarita and some Mexican food so we landed on a restaurant called “La Reina” on Wyndham Street and we loved it! We immediately ordered the spicy margarita, with some chips and a salsa flight to start, yes I said a salsa flight. I did not know that even existed but it was so delicious. It was so hard choosing from their menu as everything looked and sounded so yummy. For our meal we got the fish tacos which were so good alongside our margarita. Highly recommend going there if your visiting the area. It would make a great date night or girls night spot. There is great music playing, lights and just an overall good vibe.

Desserts: Lady Glaze Doughnuts
One place that I really wanted to check out while in downtown Guelph was “Lady Glaze Doughnuts” located on Belmont Ave. I initially heard about it from one of my favourite bloggers “the birds papaya” who recommended it. They had so many amazing and unique flavours such ‘Butter Tart’, ‘S’mores’ and ‘Belgian Sprinkle’ . I am someone who loves a good fluffy and dense donut and these biroche-style doughnuts fit the bill. I recommend going with a sweet tooth and trying a bite of each, or if your really feeling it just eat the whole box. Not only were there donuts delicious but their decor was so cute and I loved the whole vibe. Definitely check it out and pick up some donuts if your in the area.

The Boathouse Tea Room and Ice Cream
If Mexican food and donuts weren’t enough we decided to go to The Boathouse Tea Room and Ice Cream on Gordon Street for some coffee to end our day. It is only 3 minutes from the downtown core and is so cute. It is right by a river so it’s so relaxing to sit buy while sipping on a coffee or eating ice cream. They have colourful chairs and a pink building, making it a great picture spot. There is also a gorgeous park across the street so that is somewhere you can go after too. You can also book time to actually have a “tea party” with the cutest little sandwiches and pastries.

Photo Time!
Downtown Guelph reminds me a lot of Montreal. All of the buildings are very historic which calls for some amazing photo opportunities. I wanted to get as many photos as possible so we spent a hour or so just walking around, exploring and scouting the best places. You really can’t go wrong and there is always a new place to take a photo such as at The Red Brick Cafe which literally looks like a European cafe. You can also take some cute photos at the stunning church as well.

Other places to check out
Bascillica of Our Lady Immaculate
Eric the Baker Cafe
The Bookshelf
All in all it was such a great girls day exploring a new area. I was so happy to find a bunch of new restaurants, cafe spots and shops.
