MET GALA LOOKS: HIT OR MISS

Hello everyone,

The Met Gala is like my super bowl every year. It’s the Olympics of fashion. I look forward to it for months and when it arrives I am sitting at my computer watching the red carpet like a hawk obsessing and not so obsessing over stars looks. If you didn’t know this years Met Gala is going to be split into a two-part extravaganza. The first gala’s theme was ‘In America: A lexicon of Fashion’ and the second is ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’ which will be held in May 2022.

This years theme ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ was co-chaired by Billie Elish, Naomi Osaka, Timothée Chalamet and Amanda Gorman. The theme was more political then usual, honouring American fashion and celebrating the opening of the new Costume Institute exhibit.

Lets take look at a round up of my hits and misses from the gala.

HITS

JLO in Ralph Lauren

JLO can truly do no wrong. She wore Ralph Lauren and to me this does not disappoint. I love the details and layering.

Zoe Kravitz in YSL

So into this. Zoe Kravitz can make anything look good. Such intricate details that looks like lace.

Kaia Gerber in Oscar de la Renta

This screams Hollywood glam to me. Kaia Gerber is wearing an Oscar de la Renta gown channeling the 1981 Bianca Jagger. Simply Stunning.

Kate Hudson in Micheal Kors

Kate Hudson is pretty in pink. I love a monochromatic look and the different textures layered together. She is stunning.

Billie Elish in Oscar de la Renta

The Met Gala chair herself in the most stunning gown inspired by Marilyn Monroe. Billie Eilish looks so amazing and glam. This dress could not be more perfect.

Megan Fox in Dundas

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Love her, love the hair, love the makeup, love the dress. Top pick for me for sure. The red is very on theme as well.

Kendall Jenner in Givenchy

SHE WON. Stunning, stunning, stunning.

MISSES

This looks like an easter egg to me. Would of looked much better if the skirt was high waisted and the bandeau was more cropped.

This dress looks unfinished to me and I swear Lili Reinhart wears this same style every year.

Kate Hudson rocked the monochromatic Micheal Kors look but I was not a fan of Camila Cabello’s look. It remind me of the purple version of the emoji 💃

I get Kim Kardashian was trying to be an “American t-shirt” but I really do not understand this one.

Without the big poof on the shoulder I think I could get on board but I am not a fan. It makes it look cheap and too “prom” to me.

She said I want to wear a duvet to the Met Gala this year.

This look is very boring and blah to me. I expected a lot more from Hailey Bieber and YSL. I heard she was going to wear gloves with the look but last minute decided against it. I think it would have made it more Met.
