I am so happy to be writing this post as it means spring is on the horizon. I am so ready for some warmer weather, sunshine and of course the FASHION. Each season I put together a trend report with the must-have pieces for the season, and this year no exception. I feel like spring and summer fashion mix in with each other much like fall and winter do, therefore this is perfect to carry with you for the next several months. I have divided the trends into categories so that it’s easy to follow. Save this post for future reference when shopping for your spring wardrobe.

GREEN
I am so happy to report that our love of green will carry on to the spring months, in particular a Kelly green.
PURPLE
Purple is another amazing colour that you should look out for. Think towards a lilac and royal purple when selecting your pieces.
ORANGE
Another great colour popping up this season is orange. It is the perfect colour to add vibrance to any look. Think of a true orange here; if it matches the fruit then you’re on the right track.

TUBE TOPS
Yes ladies tube tops are making a comeback this season. We saw them pop up a little last year, but now they are here in full force. They were seen on lots of runways and can be styled many different ways. Pair them with some mid-rise denim for a dressed-down look or pair them with some trousers for a night out.
LITTLE TOPS
I did not know what to call this trend other than “little tops” because that is essentially what they are. Get your hands on some tank tops and cropped t-shirts to pair with denim shorts, jeans, or mini skirts. I have found so many cute styles on Urban Outfitters and Aritzia. This trend is very 90’s inspired.
LOW RISE/ MID-RISE JEANS
This trend is probably everyone’s worse nightmare but hear me out. The low/mid-rise jeans that we are seeing today are not anywhere near to the ones from the 90s- early 2000s. They have more of a baggy fit, and a long front seam. You won’t have to worry about the muffin top or tiny zippers as far as this trend is concerned. A baggier a lower rise creates such an effortless cool-girl look, perfect to wear dressed up or down.
OVERSIZED TAILORING
I wouldn’t say that oversized tailoring is a new thing but it is becoming increasingly popular for the spring season. The dramatic oversized blazer and pant suit set is where we are going with this trend. Paired with either heels or sneakers. Get a suit set in any of the on trend colours and your even more on point.
MINI SKIRTS
Mini skirts are making a comeback in a big way this spring. They were seen all over the runway from designers such as Dior and Gucci. I love how you can dress a mini skirt up or down depending on the occasion. Get yourself a couple good staple mini skirts for the season and they will be a great replacement for days when you don’t want to wear shorts or jeans. They will look so cute with sneakers, heels or boots.
SATIN
Anything satin is going to be everywhere this spring/summer. You have probably already caught on to this trend as many mainstream retailers such as Zara and Artizia are already releasing many satin pieces. This fabric is going to be great for spirng/summer since it will elevate any look. Take an oversized t-shirt to the next level with some satin pants or a night out look with a satin tube top. It is a fabric that adds dimension and drama to any outfit.
BOLD PRINTS
We are going to be seeing a lot of 70s inspired prints this season. I am talking bold flower patterns and shapes. All of these prints are in bold colours such as orange, pink and green. I think this trend is so fun! After being in sweatpants for so long, it is so exciting to see how much fun we are having with fashion.

OVERSIZED BAGS
We are officially moving away from the micro bags, and I don’t know about anyone else but I am thankful. Although I did not entirely get on board with the trend, I am looking forward to the change. In terms of this trend, we are leaning towards more of a structured oversized bag that can be worn on the shoulder.
CYLINDER BAGS
Don’t worry, medium-sized shoulder bags are still going to be in for the season but consider opting for a cylinder shape. This trend is really borrowing from the early 2000s and is going to look so good with any spring outfit. Consider getting one-second hand, I found mine for the season on Poshmark!
CHAIN BELTS
I am so here for this trend as I think they add so much to any outfit. Dress up a LBD with a chain belt, add them to a pair of straight leg jeans or use it to add shape to a shirt or a dress. The possibilities are endless.

PLATFORM SANDALS
Platform sandals were very popular last spring/summer and will continue to be this season. I love the 90s vibe platform sandals give. Bonus, they are so flattering since they elongate the leg and add height.
BALLET FLATS
Yes, you heard it here, ballet flats are coming back people. I hope you kept all of your flats from 2012 because you can bust them out again for all your spring/summer outfits this year.
LOAFERS
Loafers were a very popular shoe trend this fall and we are seeing it carry over into this coming season. I see them looking super cute with a pair of dress pants, straight-leg jeans or dresses. Add a fun sock with them and you’re golden.
CLOGS
Out of all the shoes popping up this season, I think clogs are going to have the biggest moment. If you loved the mini ugg trend in the winter, clogs are essentially the spring version of that. Many designers and mainstream stores have come out with some super cute styles.
See how I am styling all of these trends throughout the spring season! Follow me on my social accounts!
