SIMPLE WAYS TO ELEVATE YOUR STYLE

Hello everyone,

A lot of people ask me how they can elevate their style on a budget. Many people think they are not ‘Fashionable’ because they don’t have the right pieces but I promise you that is not always the case. I think the best wardrobe is formed with basic, classic and timeless peices. However, without implementing these style tips your look can still not be as fashionable as can be. The key is manipulating pieces to your body, adding elements of interest and drawing the eye. This can easily be done through the variety of tips I am going to share in this blog post. I highly enourage you to give these a try. It can take your basic button down, a pair of denim or a t-shirt to the next level!

THE LAYER

Simply putting on a sweater may look frumpy. It does not add much interest and could be boring. Something I love to do is layer a t-shirt or long-sleeve shirt underneath. My favourite ones can be found HERE and HERE. Have your shirt peak out from the bottom, collar or sleeve of the sweater. You can do this with knits or sweatshirts.

THE CUFF

Cuffing your jeans is one of the most important things to keep in mind when elevating an outfit. Cuffing can be used in a number of ways to elevate your outfit. You can do a dramatic cuff, like the one pictured in the top right, in order to add an unexpected element of interest. Or you can utilize cuffing to create a better fit. What I mean by this is you can cuff your jeans to better correspond with the shoes your wearing as pictured in the bottom left photo.

THE TUCK

One of my favourite tips to eleveate any look is ‘The Tuck’. Tucking in your shirt all the way or with a front or side tuck adds shape and interest to an outfit. It allows you to make the garment work for you and allow other deteails like pant pleating or a belt to show.

THE SLEEVE

Similar to ‘The Tuck’, utilizing your sleeves to elevate your outfit is key. You can scrunch them, roll them or cuff them. I love doing this with basic long sleeves, sweaters, jackets or blazers. It allows you to create more shape and allow the piece to be more functional. You could also go to the opposite end of the spectrum and embrace an oversized sleeve, as pictured in the bottom right. It makes your look super chic and dramatic, which is an elevation in itself.

THE BELT

A belt is one of my favourite and most worn accessories. No look is ever complete without a good belt. This can be visablyseen through all the pictures above. A belt adds a level of interest, creates shape and draws the eye. Some of my favourite belts right now can be found HERE and HERE.
