Apple Pie

One of my favourite things about the fall time is all of the yummy deserts that I get to bake once again. One of my all time favourites is my Mom’s amazing apple pie. I look forward to it all year. It is one of those comfort foods that just screams fall to me. It’s warm, sweet and just all around delicious. If you are looking for an apple pie recipe to make this fall, weather it be for an occasion or not this is a great and easy recipe to try. It never fails me and I promise you that it will not fail you either. Gather your family together, and have an amazing night baking some yummy apple pie.

I have been having apple pie ever since I was a kid and every time I eat it I love it even more. The great thing about this recipe is that it comes out perfect every time. It is easy to make and only takes about half an hour or so. All you need are some simple ingredients that I am sure that you already have at home, some apples and your good to go.

Having the perfect kind of apples is key to making a great apple pie. You want to be sure to buy apples that are specific to baking. Due to the fact that you are adding sugar to the apples you want to buy ones that are not naturally too sweet. As well apples that are good for baking are ones that do not get too soft after being in the oven. I tend to use cortland apples because I believe that they give the best taste and do not get too soft.

Making the pie is easy and very fun activity in my opinion. You can gather around the table with your family to peel and cut the apples together. I suggest getting an apple cutting tool that I have pictured bellow. It saves a lot of time and ensures the perfect cut. Once you are done cutting add all of the ingredients that are listed bellow and pop it in the oven. When the pie comes out after about an hour or so you will have an yummy treat to eat.

You can choose to make your own pie crust, but I tend to just take the easy route and buy some pre made crust. It saves me time and it ensures that the pie will turn out perfect every time. Don’t think that not making your own crust will affect the taste of the pie. Pre made crust tastes just as good and it saves you lots of time. I buy my crust from Tender flake, it makes my pies perfectly flaky.

My whole family loves this recipe and there is never any that goes to waste. Putting some vanilla ice cream on the side makes it even better. It is defiantly a desert that will warm anyone’s heart.

Apple Pie Deluxe

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees celsius.
  2. Peel and cut your 8 apples into slices (You want to ensure that your apple slices are not too thick to allow them to cook to the perfect consistency).
  3. Once you have your eight apples cut, put all the pieces into a big bowl and mix in the brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon and flour until all of them are coated with the mixture.
  4. Place all of the coated apples into one of your pie crusts (Don’t worry if it looks like it is too much, the apples will melt down a little while cooking).
  5. Place a few tablespoons of butter on top of the apples.
  6. Place your other pie crust on top.
  7. Press down on the edges of your pie crust with a fork to ensure that your pie will stay together and cut 4 slits into the top of the pie.
  8. Put your pie into the oven for 45 minutes to an hour.
  9. Once your pie is done let it cool for about 30-45 minutes and then cut and enjoy!
