FALL TREND REPORT 2019

Hello everyone! I’m so happy to be writing this blog post as it means fall is right around the corner and I’m so ready! Despite the amazing fact that fall means pumpkin spice everything, I have to admit I’m even more excited for all the new fashion trends. Sometimes it’s difficult to determine what the trends are for the season so I am taking the hard part out for you and listing them all here in this blog post! When fall fashion month was going on earlier this year I stalked all the runways and made sure to take note of all the trends I was noticing to share with you all. We are seeing a focus on suiting, plaid, satin and so much more. I have included inspo from the runway as well as  day to day options that encompass the trend perfectly.  I hope you all enjoy. Happy fall shopping!

SATIN

Satin was such a big trend for spring/summer and everyones love for it is being carried right into the fall season. However satins are now being done in rich jewel tones which is another major fall trend. Satin dresses or skirts would look beautiful in the fall with some tall boots or a chunky sweater or blazer overtop.

ASSYMETRICAL NECKLINES

I absolutely love this trend because it adds an element of interest to any piece you are wearing. Even the basic little black dress that we all know and love can be easily elevated with this trend. It is so flattering and can be done with pieces you already own, simply wear a sweater off one shoulder and you’re totally on trend.

CAPES

Capes came as quick as they went when they first became a big trend in 2007. However they are back with a vengeance and are all the rage for this season!  The major focus is on long and dramatic capes that can be layered over coats or sweaters in comparison to the short style capes in the past.

FAUX FUR

Faux fur is a trend that seems to return every fall, but for good reason. You can bring out pieces from past seasons and still be completely on trend. If you do want to purchase a new faux fur element however, think jewel tones! Lots of reds, oranges and deep purples were being done on the runway adding such a cool element to a traditional trend.

FLORALS

Florals are back in a big way this fall with the use of deep reds, blues, and purples. Designers this season went for more of a gothic or dark floral in contrast to the traditional lighter florals we have seen in past years and I am totally here for it.

PLAID

As Miranda Priestly once said, “plaid for fall, how shocking” but I promise you guys plaid is back for fall in a big way. I love how this trend is being shown in unexpected pieces such as dresses or coats. Think plaid on a big scale with fun colours and you will for sure make a fashion statement.

SUITING

You cannot go wrong with a nice blazer for the fall season. You want to go for a fitted suit, with a strong shoulder. Blazers this season are longer and pants are a straight leg style rather then the typical skinny fit we are used to. If suits seem a little to fancy for your lifestyle, I recommend dressing them down with t-shirt and sneakers.

BELTING

I absolutely love this trend and have been doing it myself for quite sometime. It adds a chic element to any outfit as well as sinches in the waist making it super flattering. This is such an easy trend to do and it can be done on blazers, dresses and even large coats.

WESTERN

The western trend was big in the spring and summer and it is being carried into the fall. You can achieve this look through incorporating suede, leather and of course fringe. I love this trend so much I even went as far as buying some cowboy inspired boots for the season (linked below).

PURPLE

Purple was seen everywhere on the runway this season, whether it be on a dress, a skirt or coat, designers couldn’t get enough. I love that it is such a bright colour in contrast to the darker shades that we normally see for the fall season.
