Hello everyone,
It seems as though quarantine has made tie dye become the newest trend with everyone doing it themselves at home. I thought it was such a fun idea that I wanted to try it out for myself. Sadly everything was sold out so it took about 2 months for all the materials to come in, but finally everything arrived! I followed Toni Sevdalis’s tutorial for a guideline on how to do it, and from it I figured out what method worked best for me. After tie dyeing one thing I see now why people want to tie dye any white piece of clothing they can find. In this post I list all of the materials needed and go through all of the steps I followed. I am thinking of trying out bleach dye next, if you guys want a post on that as well, please let me know! Hope you all enjoy and find this helpful.

Materials

- White clothing
- Dye
- Jug
- Test towel (to test the colour of your dye)
- Hot water
- Spoons
- Garbage bags x2
- Elastic bands
Steps
1.Layout garbage bags so that they cover your surface, I recommend layering them as well to be extra careful.
2.Put hot water into your jug, I found hot water makes the colour show up better on your clothing.
3.Put the desired amount of dye in your water and mix it until fully resolved. The amount of dye you put really depends on how vibrant you want the colour to be. Test the colour on your test towel.

4.Start scrunching your piece of clothing and tyeing it with your elastic bands. The tighter you make it the more white there will be. The loser you make it the less white there will be.

5.Use your spoon and scoop the dye onto your piece of clothing, making sure that the entire piece is covered.
6.This step is optional but I recommend removing the elastics from your piece of clothing and unravelling it to see if there are any spaces that you need to add more dye too. If you feel that more colour needs to be added to an area simply scrunch that area and apply the dye.
7. Use one of your garbage bags to put your clothing piece in, to limit the mess and let it sit for 3-8 hours. The more time you wait the more vibrant the colour will become.
8.After waiting a few hours, rinse your clothing item under water and then let it dry for 24 hours.

9.Once dry you have the perfect DIY tie dye piece.
This is the video tutorial that I followed if you from Toni Sevdalis on Youtube!
