Hello everyone!
I have been getting back to baking lately and have discovered some amazing recipes that I want to share with you all. The first one is this date bar recipe, after trying date bars for the first time a few weeks ago I was hooked and needed to learn how to make them myself. They are the perfect treat to have if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth but still be relatively healthy. This recipe is so easy to make and the end result is so delicious. Send pictures to my instagram @alittletouchofgold if you make them, I hope you all enjoy! I would love to see how they turn out. Happy baking!

Ingredients
Date Filling
- 3 cups chopped pitted dates (1 lb)
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Crust
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup of butter
- 1 3/4 cups of flour
- 1 1/2 cup of quick-cooking oats
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Directions
- Start by making your date filling. In a saucepan cook all of your ingredients over low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly until thickened. Let it cool while you make your crust.
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Celsius. Grease a 13×9-inch pan.
- In large mixing bowl, mix your brown sugar and butter until combined. Add in flour, oats, baking soda and salt until crumbly.
- Press half of the crumb mixture evenly in the bottom of your pan. Spread your date filling on top. Then add the remaining crumb mixture evenly over your filling, press lightly.
- Bake your date bars for 25-30 minutes or until light brown.
- Cool for 5 minutes on a cooling rack.
- Enjoy!
