2021 INTENTIONS: WHAT I AM IMPLEMENTING IN THE NEW YEAR

Hello everyone!

Happy New Year! 2020 is officially over, and 2021 can begin. I have been reflecting a lot over the past few days about what 2021 means to me. To me 2021 is the year of love, light and happiness both within myself and through the actions I display towards others. 2021, the year of the heart were we should all focus on being kind, loving one another and most importantly learning to love ourselves. Now I know a lot of people may not care what my resolutions or intentions are for the coming year, as everyone is different. However, considering that 2020 was a year that negatively affected every single person on this planet in some way I think it is important to think positively towards the new beginning that we have before us. Nothing is going to change in an instant, nor should it but I find when I set intentions and hear the reflections of others I am inspired to adopt the ones that I feel will be beneficial to me. I usually set basic resolutions like getting fit or eating healthy but I wanted this year to include much more then that. Although I won’t go into exactly what my resolutions are, in this post I will share some of the things that I am implementing to just be and feel better overall that you may be inspired to implement for yourself.

Hope you enjoy!

JOURNALING

A few weeks ago I was listening to the radio and a short interview happened to come up that explained the benefits of daily journaling. It has been found that daily journaling can be so beneficial in reducing stress and anxiety levels, as well as allow you to meet your gaols and improve your quality of life. All of these things sounded amazing to me so I thought why not give it a try in the new year. Every night before bed I will make an effort to right down any thoughts and feelings I want to get out for that day.

ADOPT NEW HOBBIES

LEARN TO COOK

I have slowly been learning to cook as time goes on however I for sure want to expand my skills over the next year. I want to eat intentional meals and by that I mean I don’t want to get into a rut of eating crackers and hummus for lunch everyday. I want to find new recipes to make and actually make them. There are so many amazing and delicious things that could be made, so my goal for 2021 is to expand my skills and try recipes. Pinterest is a great place to get inspired!

LEARN CALLIGRAPHY

During the break I spent many hours on Tik Tok and got sucked into watching calligraphy videos. Yes that probably sounds really weird but I find them so satisfying and cool to watch. I feel like it would be such a fun thing to learn over the next year. I ordered a beginner calligraphy book and pen set off Amazon to get me started.

Overall I really want to take every opportunity I can to learn and try new things this year. There is so much to experience in the world.

LOVE, LIGHT, AND HAPPINESS

Now this one is a little hard for me to explain but the best way I can is to just be a good human. Be a good human to myself and be a good human to others. Take every opportunity I can to lift someone up, and lift myself up. Take every chance to give someone a helping hand, and allow myself to accept help when needed. It’s a year for me to live in the moment and find joy in the little things. It’s about being a good human today and every other day and realizing that time can go by quickly if I don’t take a moment to realize all the wonderful things around me.

HEALTH BOTH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL

Fitness has always been a way for me to reduce stress and take time for myself. It is truly a form of self care that has changed my life and something I am grateful for everyday. This year I want to continue to work on my physical health but even more so my mental. My reasoning behind this and what I want to work on is very personal to me, however I wanted to include it in this post as I feel people are always so hooked on “physical health” at the start of the year. Although that is so important I think mental health is the engine to everything else and that needs to be strengthened first. I will be adding meditation and journaling into my routine, as well as more yoga to take time to slow down and connect with myself.

GRATITUDE LIST

The last thing I want to implement in 2021 is making gratitude list frequently. I will most likely do this along side my daily journalling to ensure that I am taking a moment each day to be thankful for what I have in my life. I feel like this is especially important to do after the year we had and due to the fact that it may still be a while till life as we know it can resume.

  1. I tried cooking and calligraphy last year and I can honestly say both brought so much joy to my life. Having a well-cooked meal can do so much for your mental health, you wouldn’t believe. Calligraphy was surprisingly easier for me to get into and do than I expected – I even blogged about it lol. Best of luck on you achieving your goals this year! Looking forward to hearing more updates! 🙂
